So finally we were out on an adventure again for trial. This time in Auerbach, Germany. VGP, the German full-purpose trial, which is their toughest test for the trained gun dog waited for us. In most cases, these trials are done normally during October, but because by then I’d rather just want to hunt it felt good to have found a trial that was the last weekend in September instead. This time I followed the same recipe, to bring two dogs, Nelly vom Wolfsbau and Kira parallel. Last year I trialed Nelly and the wirehaired pointer Dexter at HZP with big success but this test is much more difficult so I admit that I was a little bit nervous. The first day we started with the field and water work. Second day was blood tracking and more obedience in hunting situations. Last weekend I was asked to go to northern Sweden and the Game fair in Fäviken to show my dogs and talk about why I think that obedient gun dogs are better
. It was great fun with very nice staff and nice atmosphere. I thank all of you up there in the north for an intense but enjoyable weekend with newfound contacts. Also many thanks to Jeppe Stridh with family who coached me & the Holmgren family for suppor and managing. Look at what the fair has to offer:
Fäviken Game Fair
Once again I got the pleasure to train and handle the Kleiner Münsterländer Kira on a course back home in Sweden. It was German Drahthaar Club of Sweden and the instructor Patrik Sjöström who arranged a pleasant two days field course. We were a happy gang with dogs in different ages who showed what they were made off. The dog constellation consisted of German Drahthaars, Kleiner Münsterländers and one Weimaraner. …More »
