Yesterday it was time for Blücher II aus den Hühnermoor aka “Dexter” to make his first sharp tracking. Me myself thought it was a pure dead search but boy was I wrong. It was I who had shot at a wild boar who made a mock attack on Peggy (my new DD) and I thought I saw a clear hit. This week I got the x-ray results for Blücher II aus den Hühnermoor for hip dysplasia and OCD.
Everything went well and the results : HD-A -clear. and OCD-free
Last weekend we were again on an adventure, this time in Gunzburg, Germany. My pointing gun dogs breeding test (HZP) were on the agenda. To train two dogs, Nelly vom Wolfsbau and Blücher II aus den Hühnermoor parallel certainly have many advantages but to be honest, it is very demanding. It has not been easy and there were many times along the way when I scratched my head wondering if I’ve was in over my depth. When simultaneously studying a rather demanding programme (veterinary medicine), one might wonder whether it is optimal with this type of dogs. We were with Ingemar Tykessson for track training with Nelly, Molly and Dexter. Three dogs with a completely different way of working so the challenge was to read each one properly. As an example, Nelly had a work rate at 600 meters in 22 minutes while Ingemars fine wirehaired went in a third of the time. We are all different …
