Between all my hunts I try to train my youngsters who are not ready for the real hunts yet. Buring these trainings I have discovered one thing: Maja is my youngster with the best nose of all time so far. Quite amazing what fun it is to see her work when she is folloowing a bloodtrack. Now, as blood tracking training is my “Achilles heel” and weak point I, as always, take the help of someone who is better than I am. In this case it is Ingemar Tykesson that I am getting help from. Now we have a new German wirehaired pup again. This cute girl from Germany is not from just any parents. Her mother Kelly v.d. Ostalb is not less than HEGEWALD WINNER 2009. Those of you who do not know what it means, I can say that its Germany’s most prestigious trial for Wirehaired Pointers. To win a trial with 264(!?) contestants is just incredible. Yesterday it was time for Blücher II aus den Hühnermoor aka “Dexter” to make his first sharp tracking. Me myself thought it was a pure dead search but boy was I wrong. It was I who had shot at a wild boar who made a mock attack on Peggy (my new DD) and I thought I saw a clear hit. The wild boars trotted off calmly and it sounded like they stood a little further in the battue. So I waited a while to then go back to the car, modifying my equipment and switch to Dexter. …More »

Everything went well and the results : HD-A -clear. and OCD-free
