Kleiner Münsterländer

Field training is a good hunting customization for the münsterländer. The dog is to learn to search in the field with good speed and to use the wind efficiently. Under controlled conditions you present the dog with birds, that the dog should point, raise and gradually to respect them. By respecting bird game I mean that as soon as the bird is flying he’s not to follow it but remain on the spot.

At hare training I see to train the youngster dog on a open field. As a rule the dog shows interest in the fresh hare track and wants to follow it. When it has followed the track a couple of times the barking also usually starts. Some dogs already bark on their first track. In Germany, drive on hare is included in a trial. They have choosen hare on field in order for the dog tracking ability & accuracy to be constantly monitored throughout the event.
