Maja the tracker
October 25th, 2011
Between all my hunts I try to train my youngsters who are not ready for the real hunts yet. Buring these trainings I have discovered one thing: Maja is my youngster with the best nose of all time so far. Quite amazing what fun it is to see her work when she is folloowing a bloodtrack. Now, as blood tracking training is my “Achilles heel” and weak point I, as always, take the help of someone who is better than I am. In this case it is Ingemar Tykesson that I am getting help from. If you live in Scania, there is a risk that you know who this profile is. Tracking judge and organizer of several tracking championship. So if you do you need help getting started or stuck in the tracking workout, I recommend starting to get in touch with him. For my part, its always a half day project as I am training four or five dogs who should get at least one track to work with.
Even Ingmar said that Maja was working good with focus and good pace. So now I hope that I can refine this capacity of hers. Maybe you have already read a previous post when Maja had her first sharp tracking on elk.
Here you can see a small clip from it:
